Today we had our 30 week appointment and check up ultrasound. I was super excited for this ultrasound because by now little B is getting some fat on his face and I was looking forward to the 4D scan to actually see some facial features. Well...Bradley was not in the mood to have his picture taken today.Let's get to the business. The placenta has moved up slightly and is no longer a concern for a vaginal delivery. Yay! Bradley's heart beat was 144bpm which is exactly what it was last appointment. He is growing really well and the Dr.'s told us he is weighing an estimated 3lbs 8oz. Big boy! The Dr. also found hair already grown in on his head. Oh yeah, and he's still a boy too!!The reason we couldn't get a good picture of his face is because, in the Dr.'s words, "he's in there like a taco." He's folded in half with his legs straight and his feet over his face. She tried poking him, and buzzing him with this thing (which made him kick so that's a relief that he seems to have his hearing), and I even tried rolling onto my side. Nothing was moving him. I was worried that maybe I had low fluid levels and he had no room to move around but the Dr. assured me that there is plenty of fluid and he is just comfortable with his feet in his face. Nonetheless here's the best picture we got. It's not in 4D. You can see a profile of Bradley's head, look for big round forehead (must be from Ben) and the light spot at the bottom of the picture is his ear. To the left middle you can see the shoulder and the beginning of the body. Then up top you can see the legs shooting across his face. If you look closely you can even see the outline of the knee joint and knee cap area (does he even have a patella yet?). You can see the leg get skinnier to the top right of the picture as to where his ankle joint is. Crazy kid, so flexible (must be from me!)

Last week we did our tour of Mercy Fairfield Hospital and birthing center where little B will be born. It made me so excited that if I were within a few weeks of my due date I would have probably hopped up on one of the beds and said, "Induce me, let's do this now!"In a nutshell the tour made both Ben and I super comfortable in the hospital we chose to give birth in. On the labor and delivery floor there are two sections. The postpartum section is brand new and totally remodeled as of last year. The rooms are huge with flat screen TV's, private bath, rocking chairs and of course those extremely uncomfortable looking pull-out chairs for the "coach" to sleep on. On the labor and delivery section the rooms again are huge with a full soaking tub if the mother chooses to labor in that. (I will not. I have a think about bath tubs that just gross me out. I don't even take a bath at my own house. Love swimming pools, hate baths.)What I love about Mercy. First off, they do not even have that typical "nursery" that you think of with the big window that you look in and see all the babies lined up. At Mercy the babies never leave the mother's side. They stay in the mothers room for their entire visit from birth to being discharged. The babies first bath, the apgar testing and the pediatric check ups are all done in the mothers room. I love that! The only time the baby will leave is if a) there is an emergency, or b) he is getting circumcised. Also, the labor and delivery floor does not have visitor hours. Therefore if we had a guest that wanted to see the baby at 10:30pm there would be no problem with that. The only hours that have a slight restriction is between 1pm and 3pm everyday. That is the "quit time" on the floor where they encourage mom, baby and "coach" to rest and bond with their baby. All in all it was a great experience and we now have an answer to that oh so popular question that everyone asks; "Are you ready?" Yes!T, B & B
Here we are at 28 weeks. The official official start of the 3rd trimester. The beginning of the end.
And here I always thought black was supposed to be slimming....We had our 28 week check up today. Everything is looking great. I (mommy) had to get a shot today right in the butt. Because my blood is negative and Ben's blood is positive I had to get an RH (rhogam) shot just in case Bradley gets his father's blood. They will test Bradley's blood right after he is born and if he does in fact have positive blood like his daddy, I'll need another shot so my body doesn't built up antibodies against positive blood which could prevent a future pregnancy. Bradley's heart was beating strong at 144bpm. My belly measurement was right on track and the Dr. said my weight gain was good; 2 lbs (psych!) We are now on track to have check up appointments every 2 weeks. Wow how time flies. At our next appointment, 30 weeks, we will be getting another ultrasound. I'm very excited to see little B again. Most woman don't have another ultrasound after 20weeks. I however had a low lying placenta in my last ultrasound so they want to check the status of that. Hi and welcome all family and friends! We are very excited to be starting a new blog and sharing it with you all. The purpose of this blog will be to post pictures and share the milestones of creating our family, while possibly exposing a few botched steps along the journey of becoming parents for the first time. We also hope this blog can help those of you who might be far away feel as close and involved as you can!I (Tiffany) am not new to the blogging world, in fact I love it. For me it is the best form of documentation of our life as I am horrible at journaling (becuase there is no spell check button in a spiral notebook). We have decided to start our Family blog at the beginning of my third trimester. I hope you enjoy following along as we begin to set up the nursery, tour the birthing center, collect diapers, freak out, pinch ourselves and wait for "it" to happen!Also as a part of my welcome post I would like to write a quick debrief of our journey thus far. Well it all started out when a young man and woman met and fell in love........GAG! Just kidding, I will not bore you with the whole story. Ben and I always knew we wanted a family and when I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) we realized it might be harder than we think. After months of medicines, needles, doctor bills and a slew of negative pregnancy tests, we finally have a little miracle growing in my belly and we couldn't feel more blessed. Finding out that we have a little boy with a healthy heart beating has been the icing on the cake. Bradley Carl is due to arrive November 9th. We sure do hope his stork is on time!T, B & B
